You are suppose to pull off the vinyl then wash off the cream w/ water…. BTW you are suppose to wear gloves when using this.. this product has acid in it and will do serious damage to your skin.. it has been pulled from hobby stores in NY because of this.

thanks for demo, it really helped me to get started. I bought etching cream at Hobby Lobby yesterday and now with your help I am ready to try! thanks

Baby wipes work great with cleaning your mat and leaves it sticky. My mat lasted so long it cracked after about 500 cuts.

Using contact paper is cheaper and easier on your blade.

If you color over the etching with colored sharpies the color will stay in the etched part and wipe off of the plain glass. It will be light colors but it is a good way to add new dimension to glass projects

I’ve been wanting to do this. Have a couple ideas for Christmas. I need to get the etching cream tho. Some craft stores don’t know what the heck I’m talking about … And I know what you mean about coupons. Some of these things can be sooo expensive without them! LOL.

wash off with water – not a paper towel – good try tho

This was her first time ETCHING. .not her first time cutting vinyl and setting her blade depth at 6 for cutting the vinyl.

Wow! Good detective work! You tell her! That’s what’s important!

  13. Tncpcola

Whatever, this is not your first time doing it, because you said you always leave it on 6, so TELL another lie why dont you

  14. ThePinkStamper

No, I never did. Turns out that the cream eats away at the glass so all of it should be removed. :)

  15. 1tinac

so did you try to color the etching cream?

  16. Hassle82

I have used glass paint before. Follow all steps up to putting the cream on I usually let mine set for about 7-10 minutes. You would then run it under running water to remove all traces (still leaving the vinyl attached). Dry it off with paper towels and then when it is completely dry, use glass paint to paint a thin layer the same place as you had previously put the etching cream. You’ll want to let it dry for about an hour or so, remove the vinyl and then let dry overnight

Thanks for the info. :) I have learned this from the above comments. It was fun try to figure it out as I did it but I had a ways to go. LOL!

To get the glass etching all of the cream has to be taken off. Otherwise it’s like a stencil and paint.

Thank you so much for sharing!! I appreciate seeing someone doing it for the first time. Also for sharing where you get your vinyl!

  20. KerstenK141

Thanks so much for an amazing instructional video! What cartridge did you use if you dont mind my asking?

  21. 1updude96

Looked pretty good for your first time! Good Job!

  22. BeverlyS48

I am missing the tip. Can you please tell me again where you purchase your vinyl? I know you can buy it (some colors) at Wal-Mart and Micheals, etc. but I like the idea of bigger rolls. Thanks for any help. Beverly

  23. BeverlyS48

I love your videos as I just got my Expressions machine and you are so very helpful. However, I find the music distracting and it’s hard to hear you over it.

  24. Sazness

Here’s a tip on vinyl for you: When you apply it to something that curves, take a lighter or another source of flame and heat it a bit. The vinyl will become softer and stretchier, which will make it much easier to work with =)

Heating will also help with removing it more easily =D

Good information, however glass etching cream is an acid and really damage your skin if you spill or splatter. You should ALWAYS use rubber gloves and safety glasses when using.
